A year of writing prompts: 11 September

How to use these prompts

Make of this what you will.

Prompts

  1. 11 September 2001 is a date which will live on in infamy, thanks to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. Tell the story of someone who was in New York on that day - someone who escaped from the building (or didn't), a firefighter, a witness, or anything else you can think of.
  2. It's Important Things Day. Write about something important - something which is important to you, or to one of your characters.
  3. "It ain't the roads we take; it's what's inside us that makes us turn out the way we do." O Henry
  4. O Henry said there are stories in everything - park benches, lamp posts and newspaper stands. If you have time today, go for a walk and write a story based on an advert stuck to a fence of lamp post, the headline of your local newspaper or an overheard conversation. If you don't have time to go for a walk, log on to a news website and pick a headline from there for a story.
  5. Two girls are playing with a ouija board.
