  1. "Never laugh at live dragons." JRR Tolkien
  2. John Howard, the prison reformer, was born on this date in 1726. Write a story set in a prison.
  3. The Great Fire of London began on this date in 1666. It started in a bakery in Pudding Lane and spread across the whole city. Your character was in the city that night. Tell their story.
  4. The Partridge Family was first broadcast in 1971. Write a story about a singing family.
  5. One of today's themes is active determination. Write about someone who is actively determined.
