2. Today is the feast day of St Appollonia, who is the patron saint of dentists. Write a story about a dentist.
3. In 1989, Polish archaeologists unearthed the world's oldest boomerang. Write a story about a boomerang, or, alternatively about a person or animal that keeps on coming back.
4. In 2002 a burglar phoned police to boast that they'd never catch him - but they traced the call and arrested him before he'd finished boasting. Write about a boastful crook who gets his (or her) comeuppance.
5. In 2000, the Icelandic Prime Minister gave singer Bjork the exclusive use of an uninhabited island. Write about what you would do with an uninhabited island if someone granted you a similar boon. What type of island would you choose if you were given a choice?
