A year of Writing Prompts: 11 April

How to use these prompts

Here's a singing group.
How did they get together?
How did their big break happen (perhaps it hasn't yet)?

Prompts

  1. It's National Submarine Day. Write a story featuring a submarine.
  2. It's Pet Day. Write a story about the relationship of a family and their pet(s).
  3. "Out on the edge you can see all kinds of things you can't see from the centre." Kurt Vonnegut
  4. In the French Revolutionary Calendar it's the day of Lettuce. Write a story about salad - either making it or eating it.
  5. The plant of the day is the dandelion. Write s story featuring dandelions.

Character Traits
  • May have artistic or musical talent, or be competent in business.
  • Not willing to put in the hard work and effort they need in order to achieve success or fame. They are good at starting things, but lose interest and enthusiasm when things get difficult. Or they simply get bored.
  • Likely to blame others for their failures, or curse their luck rather than admit they've been lazy or didn't have the skill.
  • May be strange or unusual in some way, and don't fit in. It almost seems as if they are from another world.
  • Most at home in modern towns with amenities and entertainment.
  • Easily bored.
  • Welcome change, and may emigrate.
  • Indecisive, untidy and disorganised.
  • May be devout, with a faith which helps them through life's trials.
  • Not always lucky in love.
  • May be self-absorbed, but will have sympathy for those who suffer.
  • Possible careers include writing or film making.
  • Danger from falls or blows.
