A year of Writing prompts: 10 June

How to use these prompts

A burning bus.
What started the fire?
Are there any casualties?
What are the consequences of the disrupted journey?

Prompts

  1. In 1881, Count Leo Tolstoy set out on a pilgrimage to a monastery, disguised as a peasant. Write about a noble, royal person or world famous celebrity who goes on a journey disguised as a common person.
  2. It's Time Observance Day, when people in Japan are encouraged to be punctual. Write about either a person who struggles with timekeeping or someone who is fanatically punctual. Or both - perhaps they live or work together.
  3. "I was born at the age of twelve on a Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer lot." Judy Garland.
  4. It's Ballpoint Pen day, commemorating the invention of the Biro. Write a story which features a ballpoint pen.
  5. It's the Fairy Holiday of the Wan Thing. The Wan thing arrived in Fairyland on this day and has been there ever since, looking wan. The fairies feel sorry for it but never try to help it. What is the Wan Thing? Why did it turn up in Fairyland? What happens if a fairy ever does try to help it? Perhaps the Wan Thing does something one day to shock all the fairies.
