A Year of Writing Prompts: 13 June

How to use these prompts

Who is the good guy and who is the bad guy here?
Time for a superheroes in outer space story.

Prompts

  1. In 1831, a young woman called Lucy Lightfoot went, as was her habit, to visit a wooden effigy of a crusader named Edward Estur, as she was obsessed with him. As usual, she left her horse outside the church and went in. Only today, there was a violent storm and a solar eclipse. Later, Lucy's horse was still where she left it but she was gone. What's more, the dagger had been torn from the effigy's hand and lay in pieces on the altar. Tell the story of what happened to Lucy. If it helps, later on it was discovered that Estur had known a Lucy Lightfoot during his 14th century lifetime.
  2. In 1920, the US Post Office ruled that children must not be sent by parcel post. Write about a child who is posted somewhere.
  3. On National Juggling Day, write a story in which the principal character is a juggler.
  4. Mary Whitehouse, campaigner for moral values, was born in 1910. Your character is on a one man (or woman) crusade to preserve moral decency.
  5. "A demon is a god reflected." William Butler Yeats
