Who is this man?
What ritual is he taking part in?
Does it happen as planned?

Prompts

  1. In Ancient Rome, today was the Fontinalia, the festival of Fontus, the god of fountains, springs and wells. Write a story featuring a fountain, spring or well.
  2. "If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman." Margaret Thatcher
  3. In Finland, they celebrate Failure Day today as a chance to celebrate failure and learning from mistakes. Your character has failed in something. How do they react? What do they do next?
  4. In 1944 in Great Leighs, Essex, a ceremony was held to replace a two ton stone which had been dislodged by a bulldozer. It was believed that dislodging the stone had released the spirit of a witch who'd been buried on the spot in the 17th century, and villagers hoped the ceremony would stop the poltergeist activity which had been taking place since. Write a story based on this event.
  5. In 1792 the cornerstone of the White House in Washington DC was laid. Write a story set in the official residence of a world leader, real or imaginary.
