A year of writing prompts: 10 November

How to use these prompts

Who are the people in this boat and where are they going?

Prompts

  1. A parrot repeats a conversation or exclamation it has heard at a most inopportune moment.
  2. "Handsome is that handsome does." Oliver Goldsmith
  3. Today is the Sprite Wish Granting Championship. Two sprites, fairies, pixies, elves or whatever type of magical being takes your fancy, are competing to outdo each other in terms of granting wishes.
  4. In the film Terminator, it is on this date that Sarah Connor tapes a message for her future son, wondering whether to tell him he sent his own father back in time to protect her. Your character is sending a message through time - to an unborn child in the future or to someone in the past. There is something important that they need to say, but they must beware of causing a time travel paradox.
  5. Today is the birthday of Screaming Lord Sutch, leader of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party. Your character is the leader of a wacky political party advocating crazy and silly policies. Their party may have been intended to be a joke, but come election day, enough people are so fed up of the usual parties that they vote for the joke one - and its leader wakes up to find him or herself Prime Minister.
