Prompts

  1. Today was generally thought to be an unlucky day in the middle ages. Write about someone who suffers a run of bad luck.
  2. "Be realistic. Plan for a miracle." Osho
  3. It's International Mountain Day. Set your story on or around a mountain. It can be a story about mountaineers or skiers; people who worship the mountain; people who live and/or work on the mountain; people who have to negotiate a mountain pass; people caught up in an avalanche or landslide.
  4. World Choral Day takes place around now. Write a story about a choir getting ready for a performance.
  5. Silent Night.

Character Traits
  • Highly intelligent with a sharp and stinging wit. Often sarcastic towards authority.
  • May devote their lives to unpopular causes.
  • Tendency to gamble.
  • Enjoy art, but as a hobby rather than a career.
  • May be gay.
  • Unlucky in love - the women especially tend to fall for the wrong people and become bitter, jealous, even violent. Crimes of passion are a real possibility.
  • If they suspect their partner of infidelity, they will go through papers and mobile phone contacts looking for evidence to back up their suspicions. Unfortunately this behaviour tends to drive loved ones away.
  • Probably good at writing "cheating" love songs.
  • The bad luck isn't limited to romance - they can be double-crossed by anyone they have placed their trust in and they can end up mistrusting everyone.
