A Year of Writing Prompts: March 15

How to use these prompts

Write about the occupant of this cell.
What was their crime? Or are they innocent?
How are they coping with being inside?
Do they get on with the prison officers/other inmates?

Prompts

  1. In 1971, the first internet chat rooms appeared. Write a story featuring a chat room, and what happens when two or more of the participants decide to met up in real life.
  2. In 1969, Third division Swindon Town beat Arsenal 3-1 in the League Cup Final. Write a story in which a person, a team, an army, an animal, or whatever you like, beats the odds and wins.
  3. It's the Ides of March. Write a story about someone who is, literally or figuratively, stabbed in the back.
  4. It's also International Boss's Day Off, based on the idea that leaders should stay well out of the way on the Ides of March. Write about a boss who takes a rare day off. What does he or she do? What do his or her employees do?
  5. "People call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat or a prostitute." Rebecca West
