A Year of Writing Prompts: 2 March

How to use these prompts

Who are these people?
Where do they live?
Where might they be going?

Prompts

  1. Today was the day for well-dressing - cleaning and maintaining holy wells. Write a story featuring a well - a holy well, perhaps, or a wishing well.
  2. "You're off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting... so get on your way!" Dr Seuss
  3. Dr Seuss's birthday is celebrated as Read Across America Day. Write about reading! Some suggestions: A child is forced to read when they'd rather play outside, but once they start, they discover a fascinating new world; a child is ridiculed by classmates because they love to read, until something they read about saves the day; anything else you can think of.
  4. In 1965, a Florida man out for a stroll in the woods stumbled upon a space ship and a robot. The man claimed that the robot took a picture of him, got back in his ship and flew away, leaving behind two sheets of paper covered in alien script. What was written on the paper? Translate it in to English.
  5. It's Old Stuff Day - not a day to do the same old stuff, but rather to make exciting changes to your routine. Write about someone who does just that.
