Prompts

  1. Edgar Cayce, the psychic and healer was born in 1877. He could give health advice and talk about Atlantis while in a trance. Write about someone with psychic powers. Are they genuine or are they a con man (or woman)? What do they predict? Does it come true?
  2. "The idea of having to die without having lived is unbearable." Erich Fromm
  3. It's ham radio day. Write about someone whose hobby is ham radio. They spend their evenings tuning in to other users, and then one night, something remarkable happens.
  4. In 1913, a Texas man patented a scarecrow that could fire a gun to scare away the birds. Write about a scarecrow that can fire a gun - either a contraption like this invention or one that actually comes to life and gets hold of a gun.
  5. In 1950, Roger Bannister became the first man to run a mile in under 4 minutes. Write about someone who runs a mile very fast. Is it a race? Is it a race against time?
