A Year of Writing Prompts: March 9

How to use these prompts

Where might this boat be going?
Who will ride in it, and why?

Prompts

  1. "I have to explore, and exploring means you have to let go and not be safe all the time." Raul Julia
  2. It's Get Over It Day. Write about someone who is getting over something. What do they do to make their life better again?
  3. On average, today is the day frog spawn first appears. A gang of boys go out looking for frog spawn - but things don't go to plan.
  4. In 1974, the last Japanese soldier, a guerrilla operating in the Philippines, finally surrendered after spending years believing the people telling him the war was over were lying to him. His commanding officer had to go there to give the order personally. Write about someone who believes nothing they are told and holds on to their own version of the truth no matter what. Whether they are justified in doing so is up to you.
  5. Barbie dolls first went on sale in 1959. Write a story about a Barbie doll.
