A Year of Writing Prompts: March 20

How to use these prompts

Who are these people?
Do the two guys in the foreground know the group by the window?
What about the couple outside?

Prompts

  1. Either today or tomorrow is Spring Equinox. In various parts of the world, today is a day when people are encouraged to: propose marriage, tell each other stories, appreciate nature, protect the planet, light fires at sunrise, and burn their socks. Pick one or more of these activities and write a story about people doing them.
  2. "Let who does not wish to be idle fall in love." Ovid
  3. "They went to London to be married." Wilkie Collins
  4. In 1988 an eight year old girl was flying a kite when the string was snagged by a plane which carried her 100 feet. Write a fantasy tale in which a child flying a kite is carried in a similar way but reaches the plane's destination.
  5. It's Won't You Be My Neighbour Day. Write about someone who gets new neighbours.
