A Year of Writing Prompts: March 7

How to use these prompts

Here's a chance to write a war story.
Or a story about people who re-enact WWII battles.

Prompts

  1. "People are afraid to merge on freeways in Los Angeles." Bret Easton Ellis
  2. It's cereal day, the day Dr John Kellogg served cornflakes to patients in his hospital for the first time. Write a scene in which some people are eating breakfast together - a family at home on a school day; strangers sharing a table at a hotel; hospital patients; explorers sitting outside their tent; something else - you choose.
  3. In 1981, the first homicide occurred in Disneyland. Write a story in which something totally not family friendly happens in Disneyland.
  4. According to Victor Hugo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a great flaming star falls from heaven onto the law courts on the seventh of March. Is this judgment from God or just a disaster? What happens to the people in the building at the time?
  5. "March the seventh, third week of operation. Starlings undisturbed. But two thirds of guard brigade stone deaf." Goon Show script
